I’ve been getting paid to write copy in some capacity since 2014. It all started when Secretsales (a huge “flash sales” e-commerce company in London) hired me as part of the editorial team, and the rest, as they say, is history. Did I know what a copywriter did at that point? No. Did it matter? Not really! All of a sudden, I was writing hundreds of product descriptions, strategising marketing emails, updating the landing pages and juggling several blog posts a week. And I loved it. I’ve been nerding out over how brands use words to show up online ever since.
